| Prepregnancy Health Status & the Risk of Preterm Delivery:

-Women's health status and risk factors before pregnancy are associated with a woman's risk of preterm delivery, independant of risk factors that occur during pregnancy.
-Socioeconomic characteristics alone explains 13% of the risk preterm delivery, where risk factors that occured before pregnancy explained 39.8% and risk factors that occurred during the pregnancy explained 47.1%.
-Women who reported poor physical function during the month before conception were nearly twice as likely to experience preterm delivery.
-Broader focus on health of women prior to pregnacy may improve rates of preterm delivery.

| HAIR LOSS [ALOPECIA]
Too straight, too curly, too fine, too thick. In truth, most women aren't satisfied with the hair they wear. But those complaints seem trivial indeed compared with those that accompany hair loss, which afflicts a surprising number of women. If you think baldness is an exclusively male problem, you're wrong. Approximately 20 million American women experience hair loss. I'am not talking here about 50 to 100 hairs that are normaly shed each day.Rather, thining hair may become a problem when new hair growth does not replace hair that has been shed. Of concern, too, are patterns of baldness that may develop for different reasons.By age 50, about half of all women as well as men have some degree of alopecia, the medical term for hair loss. Hair loss in women has many different causes and takes many different forms. The most common is "pattern baldness".This is the same type of baldness that often afflict men.In women , it's marked by receding hairline or thining or baldness at the crown. whereas men may begin to lose hair in their late teens, women generaly don't start to show signs of hair loss until their late 20s or 30s.This is an inherite problem, and the hair loss is permanent. Physical or emotional stress can change hairs normal growth cycle, leading to a sudden, diffuse loss of hair two months after the triggering event. hair does grow back whenever the stress is resolved. People who may undergo chemotherapy often lose their jhair. The hair usually returns when the treatment is over, but the color and texture of the new hair may be different.Trichotillomania, a psychological disorder marked by compulsive pulling, twisting, and twirling of the hair, can also experience this type of traumatic hair loss.Alopecia Areata, caused by autoimmune disease in 2% of the population, men and women equally may lose patches of hair or even total baldness.
Hair loss can have a crushing effect on a woman's self esteem and body image. That's why a doctor's help is so important. Tracking down the cause may begins with a thorough medical history and office examination.Although pattern baldness can't be cured, it can be minimized with [Minoxidil 2% preparation in women, 5% strength in men] to stimulate hair growth in women. a common side effect of Rogain may be growth of facial hair.In general, however treatment involves the use of corticosteroid medication. When hair loss is extensive, hair transplant may be an option.

MIGRAIN HEADACHE [Patient Centered Effective Managment]
Migrain is the most common cause of disabling headache. It can have many clinical presentations and degree of impact on sufferer. Efficacy of acute treatment is determined largely by choice of medication and time for intervention. Acute treatment medications should be limited to 2 or less days per week . The goal of acute therapy is to safely and completly abort the migrain attack within 2-4 hours and preserve the patients ability to function.Prophylactic therapy should be considered when migrain is not well controlled.Life style modifications, education, and patient involvement facilitate theraputic success. Patient should keep a headache diary to identify risk factors and monitor treatment outcomes.Patient should be scheduled for regular follow up visits.Primary care Physicians can effectively manage most people suffering disabling headaches.
